This ensures less smoke, higher temperatures and greater efficiency, for effective, clean cooking. For our recommended Capo Forresta compressed beech briquettes, visit our online shop. Alternatively, you can source kiln dried wood from your local supplier of fire wood.

How much wood does the oven use?

Our wood fired ovens are designed for the sole purpose of cooking and heat retention meaning our ovens are as efficient as can be. Depending on the size of the oven, you can fire up the oven for 2-3 sessions using just one box of Cappo Forresta (available on our online shop) which equates to around £4 per session. Do I need to clean the oven?

The short answer is no. Due to the high temperatures achieved within the oven dome, any residual food within the oven is burnt off. You can scrape off extra food using a pizza peel an accessory available from The Stone Bake Oven Company shop. Simply clear the ashes out of the oven once they have cooled, see the oven manual.

What if I am in a smoke restricted area under the 1993 Clean Air Act?

If you ARE NOT in a smoke control area, you are not required to have an exemption, and therefore, it is legal to use your Stone Bake Oven.

If YOU ARE in a smoke restricted area, and you locate your Primo, Mezzo or Vento Oven outdoors and not as part of a building/house (as used outside) it is an exempt appliance.

Does the oven require building work?

The ‘Ready To Go’ oven range requires no building work, the ovens simply fit together without the need for adhesive. If you choose not to build your own base you can purchase a weatherproof Primo or Mezzo Oven Stand from The Stone Bake Oven Company.  If you wish to place the oven on your own custom made base (brickwork, blockwork or wood), ensure it is built correctly with the appropriate health and safety measures by using our build manuals from our Manuals and Videos sections.

The ‘Build Your Oven’ oven kits do require a small amount of simple building work and is designed to be built in. An insulation layer is to be added to the oven dome and floor, with a rendered, bricked or other enclosure to finish. Your oven kit will provide all you need to seal and insulate your oven, just ask your local handyman or bricklayer to help with the render/brick finish.  You will need to place the oven on your own custom made base (brickwork, blockwork, or other). Visit our Manuals and Videos section for a full range of build manuals.

Is the oven mobile?

Our oven range utilises Micro Mesh Technology exclusive to the Stone Bake Oven Company. This means despite continual expansion and contraction from the heating the cooling process, your oven maintains its structural integrity for years to come, making it ideal for those who may want to move house in the future, and take their oven with them.

Can I modify my oven?

The ovens aesthetic designs can be altered to suit your tastes in design. Further insulate the oven by simply layering insulation and rendering it or bricking around it. Hand build a base to suit your oven. Further insulating the oven will further extend its heat retention to well oven 10 hours. Visit our Manuals and Videos section for a full range of build manuals.
